Annie Solowan
1950-2014
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Annie Sophia Solowan nee Golding on August 14, 2014. Annie was born April 28, 1950, in Prince Albert to Ernest and Irene Golding. Annie spent her early years in Garthland and MacDowall. She moved to Prince Albert where she met and married Richard Solowan and they had 4 children. In 1982, Annie started her own Private Care Home and continued with this until the time of her passing. Over the years, Annie provided care for many clients with mental disabilities. She did this while raising children on her own, as well as taking on additional responsibilities with many organizations such as; Community Living, Aboriginal Headstart Program, The Heart & Stroke Foundation, PA Group Home Society, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and more. Annie was a loving, generous woman who was always wanting to help others. She was a dear friend to many and a second mother to many more. She loved spending time with friends and family. She loved spring and would decorate her yards with flowers, the more, the better. In the last few months, Annie’s health was decreasing, but she looked forward to starting a new life in Saskatoon. Throughout her brief time on earth, she touched many lives and will be missed greatly. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Irene; her brothers John, Selwyn, and Maurice; her baby sister Muriel; and nephew Sheldon. She is survived by her daughters Leah (James) Dorion, Carla and Angela (Brad); her son Tyler; her grandchildren Dakota (Casey), Erica, Kayzia, Bradly, Drewanna and Mackenna; her sisters Doris and Vicky; her brother Syd (Emily) and Edwin, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday August 21, 2014 at the Horse Lake Mennonite Church, with Val Bodnaryk officiating. Interment will be held at St. Cyprian’s Cemetery, luncheon will follow at the Wingard Hall. Memorial donations in Annie’s memory can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan,279 - 3rd Ave N, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 2H8.
