
REGINALD FINLAYSON
Reginald Finlayson, 81 - Dominion
We the family of Reginald Finlayson, sadly announce his passing on August 17, 2014 at the Glace Bay General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Reginald was born December 2, 1932, in Glace Bay.
He was the son of Dan and Margaret (Macleod) Finlayson of Reserve Mines.
Reginald is survived by his loving wife Ursula(Nearing); children Theresa (Karl) MacNeil, Glace Bay, Diane and (Coody) McNeil, Reserve Mines, Kathy and (Harold) Boutilier, Halifax, Donna and (Barry) Kearns, Ontario, Reggie (Nicole) Finlayson, Australia, Barbara (Mike) Pombiere, Ont., John (Kim Campbell), Sydney, Mike (Pam Rudolph), Halifax, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Survived by brothers; Gerald (Marylou), Reserve Mines, John Finlayson, Ont, sisters Marie, Boston Helen (David MacNeil), Glace Bay, and Jane, Reserve Mines (late Brian Chiasson).
Predeceased by his parents Dan and Margaret (MacLeod), brothers; Frank (Beth), Cyril, Art and Alexander.
Reg was employed for 40 years by Devco; he was a member of the volunteer fire department for 38 years. He was an avid sports fan. The Yankees and The Leafs were his favorite, and he enjoyed cribbage and tarbish at the Hawks Club.
We would like to thank Dr. Ley and the staff of the third floor palliative care unit, your kindness and care during this difficult time was really appreciated.
He will be sadly missed by his best friend Donnie Campbell.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main Street, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 22, 11a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. The Rev Daniel Boudreau will be officiating. A reception will follow at the Dominion Fire Hall. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
