Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family on August 22nd, 2014 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband Herbert Hedges (1993); parents John S. and Elsie Smith; brothers: Llewellyn Smith and Bill Pilgrim. Leaving to mourn her three sons: Bill (Christine), Vince (Margie) and Gerry (Sue), six grandchildren: JoAnne Forward (Scott), Paul Hedges, Jason Hedges (Kristin), Kelly Gosse (David), Kimberley Snow (Dwayne) and Sherry Hedges (Charles Dooley); nine great grandchildren: Shane and Stephanie Forward, Kiersten and Shealyn Snow, Hailie and Chelsey Hedges, Lily and Cooper Goose, Brooke Hedges; brother-in-law Lockhart Hedges; sisters-in-law: Mary Smith, and Joyce Pilgrim, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family. Special thanks to the nursing staff of 7 East at St. Clare's, Dr. Reddy and her team and niece Hilda Power for all their care and attention. Thanks also to the clergy's for their visits and chats to Bessie and family during her stay at St. Clare's. Visitations will take place on Sunday August 24th, 2014 from 7 pm- 9 pm and Monday August 25th, 2014 from 2 pm- 4pm and 7 pm- 9 pm at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue. Funeral service will be held at Barrett's Funeral Chapel, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday August 26th, 2014 at 2 pm, interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
