Walter Oake, 83 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Sydney, N.S., he was a son of the late Walter and Hilda (Clarke) Oake.
He was a loving father and grandfather.
Walter will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Frances MacAulay; children, Scott (Anne), Winnipeg, Man., Judy Buckingham (John), St. John's, N.L., Stuart (Ann), Ottawa, Ont; daughter-in-law, Jo Anne, Amherst; grandchildren, Nick, Robbie, Darcy, Ryan, Sandy, Katie, Steven, Matthew; sister, Mildred Dean, Sydney, N.S..
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Bruce, Bradley and a grandson, Bruce.
A memorial service for Walter will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777), Rev. David Myles officiating. Burial will follow in the Amherst Cemetery.
