Marjorie Viola Beaton (nee Arthrell), 77, of Winnipeg, died at 6:40 p.m., Monday, September 1, 2014 at St. Boniface General Hospital Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She was born December 6, 1936 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
She was predeceased by her father George Edward Arthrell, her mother Mary Aurora Wadden, her step-mother Elsie May Arthrell-Taylor (nee Cranwell) and son-in-law Anthony Dawe.
She married in Stellerton, Nova Scotia on July 6, 1957 and is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Thomas Davis Beaton.
Also surviving are her daughters: Susan Dawe of Milton Ontario, Shari Diotte of Winnipeg, Leanne (Edward) Miller of Comox, BC and son Alan (Shawna) Beaton of Winnipeg; grandchildren: Allan and Rebecca Dawe, Jonathon Diotte, Clayton, Cassidy and Holley Miller and Matthew and Sara Beaton; brother Jim (Angie) Arthrell of Grimsby, Ontario; sisters Sylvia (Ray) Field of Victoria, Peg (Donald) Crath of Orillia Ontario, Pat (Bill) Davis of Beamsville Ontario and Kim Taylor of St Catharines; and her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours.
Marge grew up in Stellerton and New Glasgow. After marrying, Marge and Davis lived in many different places including Summerside, PEI; Lahr, Germany, Comox, BC and finally settled with their family in Winnipeg.
Marge’s greatest pride was her children and grandchildren. She spent endless hours, kids in tow, travelling, camping, and playing games. She also enjoyed a long career as a sales associate at Eatons. She loved to read and enjoyed card games and shopping with her friends.
The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens at 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations to The Cancer Care Foundation of Manitoba.
Interment will take place at a later date.
