RAFUSE, Shirley Mae (Smith) - Age 67 of Falmouth, Hants Co. It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Thursday, September 4, 2014 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. She went to be with her one and only true love Owen in Heaven, who predeceased her just four weeks ago. Shirley was a daughter of the late Leo & Evelyn (Wiles) Smith. She is survived by children, Blaine (Elaine), Lower Vaughan; Rose (Stretch McDonald), Sweets Corner and Candace (Adam) Lyon, Falmouth; grandchildren, Mitchell, Andrew (Sarah), Amy (Taylor), Josh and Devin; great-grandson, Zackery; sisters, Caroline "Jane" Smith, Kitchener, Ont.; Maxine (Bob) Bailey, Waterloo, Ont.; Pamela (Michael) Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; Teresa (Roscoe) Chandler, Upper Vaughan; Aileen Smith, Waterloo, Ont.; Paula Cameron, Upper Vaughan; brothers, Leo Jr. "Jack" Smith, Upper Vaughan; Roger Smith, Lockhartville; Mark (Sherry) Smith, Three Mile Plains; Stanley Smith, Chester; Barry (Wanda) Smith, Bishopville; Boyd Smith, Windsor; mother-in-law, Olive Rafuse, Windsor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Owen (August 7); brother, Charles (age 3), a stillborn brother and brother-in-law, Steve Cameron. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where visitation was held Sunday, September 7 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Monday, September 8 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Gail Whalen-Dunn officiated. Private family burial was held in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth. A reception followed in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre.
