Lorraine Mary Melanson (nee Fagan)

1924-2014
Lorraine Mary Melanson passed away peacefully at Gables Nursing Home on September 6th, 2014 with family by her side. She was 89.
Born in Cap Pele, New Brunswick she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (LeBlanc) Fagan.
In her early years she worked for the Amherst Pants Factory and Brookfield Dairy.
She was a great cook and loved to quilt, knit, and play cards. She had a natural zest for life and loved being in the company of family and friends. She prayed daily.
She was a member of The Lady of our Nativity Church and the Holy Family Parish Church and a 50-year member of the Catholic Women’s League.
She will be sadly missed by:
Children: Ronald “Ronnie” Melanson, Amherst, NS; David (Pam) Melanson, Trenton, ON; Linda (Richard) Terrio, Scoudouc, NB; Philip Melanson and special friend Robyn, Moncton, NB; Barry (Jocelyn) Melanson, Amherst, NS and Lisa (Vaughn) Dobson, Amherst, NS.
Sister, Viola (John) Corbett, Amherst, NS
And Grandchildren: Kimberley, Brian, Tammy, Nicole, Adam, Jason, Todd, Angela, Corey, Terry, Michael, Elaine, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, and Matthew as well as 23 great grandchildren.
Brother-in-Law Emile Melanson of Amherst, NS and Sister-in-Law Edna LeBlanc of Shemogue, NB as well as several, nieces, nephews and friends, will also miss her.
She was pre-deceased by husband Lionel Melanson; brothers, Renee, Leo-Paul, Father Omer, Mark, and Philip Fagan; Sisters Dorilla “Dot” Melanson and Lydia Lirette; Two Daughters-in-Law, Irene (David) Melanson and Susan (Philip) Melanson.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church Street, Amherst, where visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday September 10th at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Parish Church, Amherst, NS. Mass to be officiated by Father Vernon Driscoll.
Reception at the church hall to follow burial in St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Gables Nursing Home for the loving care they provided Lorraine, especially in her final days.
The family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, Parkinson Society Canada or the donor’s choice.
