Ethnee Booker (Greer)

Ethnee Booker (Greer)

35,032 days ago (October 12, 1918) Ethnee (Greer) Booker was born at 51 Palestine Street, Belfast, N. Ireland to Canadian soldier Stg. Bryon Price Greer of Westfield, N.B. and Irish maiden Bessie Burrows Buchanan of Belfast, Ireland. Ethnee arrived in Canada by ship with her mother July, 1919 to join her father on their farm in Nerepis, N.B. Except for a five year (1923-1928) relocation to Philadelphia, Ethnee lived her life in New Brunswick.
At the age of 19, she married Charles Booker of New Brunswick, they were blessed with six children. She is survived by five children, 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, including her "island kids" - daughter, Sharon Booker Ross, Stratford; grandchildren, Patrice Drake (Bobby) Stratford, P.E.I.; Paul Ross (Jenn), Winnipeg, MB; Patrick Ross (Sondra), Stratford, P.E.I.; great-grandchildren, Alexander Drake, Kali Ross, William Ross, Oliver Ross, Maxwell Ross; two brothers, Bob Greer, Saint John, N.B.; and Wayne Greer (Sheila), Nerepis, N.B. She is predeceased by her parents, Byron and Bessie; husband, Charles; one son, one brother and four sisters.
From 1974 until recently, Ethnee spent many extended visits with her island family and felt very much at home, perhaps she felt a kinship to her beloved Ireland.
During her 96 years, Ethnee experienced amazing changes in this world, travelled extensively and embraced every opportunity that came her way.
It has been a privilege to sit with mum as she journeyed home, we shared tender conversation, albeit merely a whisper, and found comfort in her desire to leave us at this time. On this 10th day of September, 2014, we bid farewell to Great Granny Booker; she will remain in the hearts of her large family and many friends, always.
