Florence Friars

FRIARS, FLORENCE - It is with sad and grateful hearts that the family of Florence Friars announce her passing on Monday, September 15, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Florence was born in Moulies River, Kent County on January 30, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Janet (Jennie) and William MacPherson. Florence is survived by eight daughters; Bette (Mel Vincent), Darlene Friars (Bill Harrington), Barbara (Brian Walker), Heather (Terry Stilwell), Wendy (Bob Youden), Jane (Paul Dalton), Lynn (Jim MacDonald), Tracy Friars and one son Bill Friars (Marion) and daughter-in-law Nancy Friars. Predeceased by one son Peter Friars 2004. Florence was a proud grandmother of 27 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Audrey Campbell of Moncton and a brother, Bill MacPherson of Ottawa, several nieces and nephews whom she thought of lovingly. Besides her parents she was predeceased by the father of her children, Russell Friars and by her siblings; Margaret Fearon, Grace Barnes, Mary Cowan, Jennie MacPherson, Jean Dobson, Roderick MacPherson, Maude McDaid, Alice Grant and Hilda Rae. We are especially thankful to Mom’s caregivers Sandra, Kari and special mention to Carolyn who cared compassionately for Mom for four years. So much could be said of Mom in that she lived life simply and modestly with great faith. She was the wind beneath our wings and preferred to let us shine. Anyone who knew her would know she would not want us to say more. “She gave us the sunshine and gave the rest to God”!
