BROWN, MAURICE HEBER - (1918 - 2014) - Mr. Maurice H. Brown formerly of Deep Cove, Grand Manan Island passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Grand Manan Nursing Home. He was born in Seal Cove the son of the late Heber and Josie (Green) Brown. Maurice was a fisherman for many years then later became a lighthouse keeper for the Coast Guard. He sold Christmas trees to many Islanders over the years from his woodlot behind his home, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a faithful member of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church and taught Sunday School for the men’s group. He is survived by his son Terrance (Terry) Brown (Donna) of Deep Cove, three brothers; Curtis Brown of North Head, Beverly Brown (Belva) of Seal Cove, and Keith Brown (Eulah) of Sussex, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Florence Mae (Robicheau) Brown in 2004, one son Blair Brown in 2013, two sisters; Doris Zwicker, and Faye Cook, also one brother Graydon Brown.
Visiting will take place at the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held from the church on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Kent Brooks officiating and Rev. Ward McComisky assisting. Interment will follow at the Spruce Grove Cemetery (family only to the cemetery).
