
Grace Forsythe
FORSYTHE, GRACE EDITH - 1919 – 2014 - Forsythe, Grace Edith, 95, died on September 26, 2014 at Parkland Estates, Riverview, NB. Born in Lower West Jeddore, NS, she resided in Nova Scotia until moving to Parkland Estates in Riverview, NB in 2001 to be closer to her family. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Stuart and Ada (Harpell) Williams. She was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Provincial Normal College in 1949 and did extension work at Dalhousie University. She graduated from Mount Allison University, BA, 1976 and taught school in Halifax County for 32 years until retirement. She was a member of the West Jeddore United Baptist Church and past president of the United Baptist Women’s Missionary Society, holding Provincial Life Membership. She was president of the Mission Band and the local Girl Guides, being their first leader in 1953. She received a badge of service for organizing Junior Red Cross in schools in 1965 and one for work in the Red Cross Society in 1987. She was a Charter Member and Secretary Treasurer of the Marine Highway Historical Society. She was a member of the Nova Scotia Genealogy Society and co-author of several historical books on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. Surviving is a son, Michael Forsythe (Katherine) of Riverview, NB; grandson, Michael Forsythe (Laura); great grandchildren, Brock Owen Forsythe, Grace Baillie Forsythe and Claire Adelaide Forsythe of Moncton, NB and granddaughter, Caroline (Robert O’Quinn) and great-grandson, Alistair Michael O’Quinn of Quebec City and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Beulah Mary (Mrs. Wendell Hennigar) and brothers, Luther, Elmer and Vance. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The body is resting at Rowlings Funeral Home, Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia where the service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm with interment in the family plot at the West Jeddore Cemetery, Nova Scotia, following the service. Visitation at the Funeral Home will be Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm (family), 7:00 to 9:00 pm (public) and Wednesday, October 1, 2014 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff of Parkland Estates, Riverview, NB for their care over the years and especially the staff of Monarch Hall for their compassion and care over the past four years.
