YOUNG, PAULINE RACHEL - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on September 28, 2014, Mrs. Pauline Rachel (Johnson) Young, wife of the late Wyman DeCosta "Cossie" Young of Leonardville, NB. Born at St. Stephen, NB on August 18, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Ethel (Cleghorn) Johnson. Pauline grew up in Lawrence Station and after graduating from McAdam High School she came to Deer Island to work in the office of H.W. Welch Ltd of Fairhaven, NB. Following her marriage to Cossie, she moved to Leonardville where she raised her family. She was a lifetime member of the Leonardville Women's Institute, a founding member of the Deer Island Square Dance Club and a member of the Deer Island Red Hat Society. Pauline was honoured as a lifetime member of the Progressive Conservatives and was an ardent monarchist and a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Medal. She was committed walker and in her later years enjoyed to travel. Surviving Pauline are her daughter, Roxanne (Adrian) Smith of Riverside-Albert, NB and son, Brooke DeCosta Young of Leonardville, NB. Also surviving are sisters Joyce MacArthur, Jean (Roy) Patterson and Wilberta Topple, one brother-in-law, Waldron Sabine and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her brother, Seymour and by her sisters, Evelyn, Joan and Maxine.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Resting at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, and from the Fairhaven Baptist Church, Fairhaven, NB on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The service will be held at the Church on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating, followed by the interment at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery. In Pauline's memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
