DIETMAR FLIEGEL
December 16, 1959 – August 18, 2014
It is with deepest sadness that I announce the sudden passing of my beloved Dietmar Fliegel, age 54. Predeceased by his loving mother Irene and cherished father Erich, Dietmar suffered a massive heart attack in the early hours of August 13, 2014. He was air-lifted from Swift Current to the CCU at Regina General Hospital where he succumbed to complications and passed away on August 18, 2014. Dietmar was born in Heubach, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany and moved to Swift Current with his parents when he was only 8 years old. He was a man of many talents and excelled in autobody/detailing. He swapped a career in autobody for running his own business as a landscaper and yard maintenance specialist, although in his spare time he continued to love working on all sorts of vehicles which he collected. During the winter months Dietmar loved snowmobiling, and during the summer months he especially loved fishing and boating, and occasional road trips, always accompanied in all of his activities by his (common-law) wife of nearly five wonderful years. Dietmar also loved gardening and was an excellent handyman. He was a quiet man with a wonderful personality and a generous and caring heart.
Dietmar was loved and cherished, and will be forever and dearly missed by his wife Cathie Fraser, and their three little dogs. Dietmar had hoped to sell his home in Swift Current to be closer to Cathie whom he had hoped to officially marry in the near future. Dietmar also leaves to mourn his sister Doreen Fliegel and three adult children Liz Myhre, Mike Fliegel and Candace Kenny along with four wonderful grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles and cousins both in Canada and Germany, and many, many close friends.
When nights are long & friends are few
I sit alone & think of you,
With a lonely heart & a silent tear,
I long to hold you & have you near…
If sorrow could build a stairway
And memories a lane,
I’d walk right up to Heaven
And bring you home again…
Death Leaves A Heartache No One Can Heal
Love Leaves A Memory No One Can Steal
