A good and gentle man has gone quietly into the night. John Angus LeClair, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at the age of 84.
John was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to Harry and Stella. He was the much loved brother in a family of six sisters. John graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1950 and received his RIA (CMA) designation in 1959. In 1956, he married Patricia, the love of his life, and together they had four children. John had a long career with CN, retiring in 1985 to enjoy golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.
John’s every action in life spoke of his love for his family and his faith. He was a man of intelligence and integrity; always kind, always patient, always there. He will be missed profoundly and be remembered for all the days to come.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia; children, Gregory, Patrice (Tom), Ann (Kelly), Colin (Brenda); and grandchildren, Alexandra, Stephanie, Kathryn and Taylor. He is also survived by his sisters, Carmella, Mary Margaret (Donald) and Carol (Wayne); brother-in-law Eric; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his sisters, Annie, Leona and Lillian.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.
Flowers are respectfully declined but donations to the Kidney Foundation (6007 1A Street, S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 0G5) in John’s name would be appreciated.

In the latter year of his life, John faced some significant medical challenges. Those involved in his care at the South Calgary Renal Clinic, Foothills Medical Centre (Unit 37) and Peter Lougheed Centre, as well as the Chinook Hospice, demonstrated the utmost compassion and respect for him earning our eternal gratitude.
In living memory of John LeClair, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Rd., S.E., 403-256-9575.
