The death occurred peacefully, with family at her side, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on October 2, 2014, of Thelma Van Ewyk (nee Stewart) of the Garden Home, Charlottetown, and formerly of Montague, aged 78. She was the cherished mother of Marion Menard (Mark), Aart Van Ewyk and Laura Lodwich (Henry, deceased). Thelma raised her family in Toronto, where she resided for 33 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Jimmy and Laura (Munroe) Stewart. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Central Queen's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. If so desired, memorial donations to the QEH Equipment Fund would be appreciated.
