Catherine MacDonald, age 94 of 11 MacNeil St. Sydney Forks, formerly of Castle Bay, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Castle Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Jane ‘Mamie’ (MacDonald) Ferguson.
She was a member of St. Mary’s parish, East Bay. Catherine worked in the housekeeping department at St. Rita Hospital for over 25 years retiring in 1985. She was happiest at home with all her family both when she was on MacNeil Street or in Castle Bay.
She is survived by daughters, Mrs. Mary MacNeil; Ann (Roddie) MacNeil; son, Jim (Joan), all of Portage; also by five grandchildren, Buddy (Gloria), Roddie (Julianne), Cathy (Blair), Anne Marie (Blair), Carrie Lynn (Mike); six great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kelsey, James, Brandon, Emma and Brittany and also by two sisters-in-law and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, James in 1995; two brothers, Neil and Louis and son-in-law, Hector MacNeil.
Visitation for Mrs. MacDonald will be from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
