Kenneth Miller, a resident of Parkland Estates, Sydney, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Bonaventure, Nfld., he was the son of the late Jacob and Mary (Peddle) Miller.
At the age of nine, Ken started working on the family fishing vessel in Newfoundland. During the Second World War, he continued to fish, working as a merchant marine providing food to our troops. After moving to Sydney, he worked as a crane operator at Sydney Steel before moving to the United States, where he worked as a carpenter for 10 years. In the early 70s, he returned to Sydney and continued to work as a carpenter until retirement. After he retired, Ken enjoyed fishing and dancing, as well as playing cribbage and skip bo. Known as “the Puzzle Man” at Parkland Estates, Ken also enjoyed doing puzzles.
Surviving are his daughters, Geneva Corliss, New Hampshire, Delphine (Vic) Barossi, Boston and Donna Kearney, Boston; son, Kenny (Cindy), Sydney; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and three sisters, residing in Newfoundland.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date in Newfoundland.
