Born Dec. 1, 1924 in Conche, Michael Joseph Carroll moved to North East Brook in Roddickton in 1931, then Roddickton proper in 1968. He worked as a logger, fisherman, heavy equipment operator and maintenance man for the Town of Roddickton for many years. Michael Passed away into the presence of God on Oct. 5, 2014 at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony in his 86th year. Left to mourn his passing are his sons Clifford (Bessie), Ambrose (Judy), George (Mary Ellen), Michael Jr. (Lois), and Bernard (Meryl); daughters Nellie (Willie), and Margaret (Dave); 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley, Della, Elizabeth and Loretta. as well as brothers James, William, Val, and a large circle of other family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his wife Anastasia, sisters Alice and Nellie and brothers Robert and Gerald. Visitation was held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Roddickton, from where the funeral mass was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 with Farther Vitus officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
