We regret to announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Donald Archibald MacGibbon, 85, on March 8, 2013, in Abbotsford, B.C.
Born in Edmonton, Alta., he was the son of the late James and Ella MacGibbon.
Donald was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas in France and England with Canadian Army. Following his retirement Donald and his wife Helen lived in Big Bras d’Or, N.S., for a number of years.
Donald is survived by two daughters, Sharon Binns, Grimsby, Ontario, and Lorna Taylor, California; by a son Donald (Mary Jean) MacGibbon, Abbotsford, B.C.; grandchildren, Erin, David, Gregory, Jaime, Meredith, Kelsey and Ashley; daughter–in-law Judy MacGibbon, North Sydney also by his dear friend Susan Devoe, Sydney.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen M. (Williams) MacGibbon and a son James MacGibbon.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney with Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Big Bras d’Or.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
