It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roderick MacIntyre on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his family by his side.
Roderick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He was the son of the late Roderick and Agnes (Woodworth) MacIntyre.
A carpenter by trade, he was a member of the Carpenter’s Union, Local 1588.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Janie; four sons, Rodney, Brian (Laura), Bruce and Todd (Kim); six grandchildren, Shane, Cody, Dylan, Keigan, Ethan and Lily; two sisters, Eunice Sutherland and Florence MacIntyre; three brothers, Charlie (Sharon), Freddie, his twin and Allison (Donna) and brother-in-law, Matt (Anita) Doucette. He will also be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Roderick was predeceased by a son, in infancy; brother, John; brothers-in-law, Ernest Sutherland and Thomas Doucette; sisters-in-law, Edna MacIntyre, Margaret MacInnis and Pat Robertson.
Visitation took place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Welton Street on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20 at MacMillan Memorial United Church, Catalone, with Rev. Emily Duggan officiating. Interment in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone.
Memorials may be made to MacMillan Memorial United Church or palliative care.
