With broken hearts the family of Mamie MacDonald wish to announce her death on Oct. 16, 2014. Mamie passed as she lived quietly at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mamie was the youngest and last surviving member of the family of the late Simon and Catherine (Fraser) Buchanan.
She is survived by a daughter, Cathy (John); granddaughters, Katie and Kelly and great-grandson, Josh; daughter, Martyne (Bob); granddaughter, Lindsay; grandson, Martin (Amanda); great-grandson, Joseph, with whom she resided the last several years.
Mamie was also survived by many nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.
Special thanks to Sheim and Andrea Tobin and family and Muriel McCreadie for their care and support.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Martin; sisters, Jessie (Larry) McGrath, Margaret (Dave) Webb, Priscilla (Earl) Ferguson, Edith (Jerry) Tobin, Christina (Warren) Young and brother, D.A. (Nora) Buchanan.
There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Cabot Street, Sydney, Fr. Burke officiating.
Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or a Catholic charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
