SYMONDS, G. FRASER - It is with sad hearts that the family of Gordon Fraser Symonds, beloved husband of the late Edith S. (Munn) Symonds, announce his peaceful passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Sunday, October 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. As in life, Fraser demonstrated courage and resolve in his final hours. Born in Port Maitland, NS on September 8, 1933, he was a son of the late Gordon and Eva (Smith) Symonds. His working career was varied from working in the Funeral Industry to being Superintendent of a number of housing complexes where he made many lasting friendships. Fraser is survived by a sons, Ross Symonds of Toronto, Donnie Munn (Judy) of Boiestown, Brian Munn of Fredericton and Fabian Munn (Amanda) of Miramichi; daughters, Carlene Symonds of Toronto, Debbie Somerville, Jennie Reid (Bob), Elizabeth Wood (Terry) and Lana Munn (Glen Corey) all of Fredericton; numerous grandchildren; brothers, John Symonds (Willo Anne) of Yarmouth, NS and Fred Symonds (Maridel) of Browns Flat; sisters, Betty MacCallum (Doug) and Ruth Dennison both of Fredericton; a sister-in-law, Debby Symonds; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife Edith (March, 2014), Fraser was predeceased by a brother, Conard A. Symonds (2013).
There will be no visitation hours by personal request and a private service for the family will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Bishop’s Funeral Home, Fredericton (458-1885). The Oromocto Public Hospital Palliative Care Unit has been suggested for memorial contributions and condolences may be sent to the family online at: www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
