Leanne Joy Cail

Leanne Joy Cail

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leanne Joy Cail, age 42, on October 18, 2014. She passed with her loving family by her side at the QEII Hospital, following a motor vehicle accident.
Born in Ottawa in 1972, she was the daughter of Shirley Landry and the late Horace Cail, of Moncton, N.B. She moved to Charlottetown, P.E.I., with her family at the age of 9 and has proudly called Charlottetown her home ever since.
She graduated from Holland Collage, worked for a few years in both Moncton and Halifax before moving to Stellarton where she spent a number of years working for Sobey's. After returning to Charlottetown, she held several positions over a number of years that included P.E.I. Foodtrust, Ocean 100 and Hot 105.5, and the Best Western Hotel. She held the position of Director of Marketing and Fund Raising at the P.E.I. Humane Society until her passing.
Leanne was known for her quick razor-sharp wit, loyalty, strength, outgoing personality, self-confidence, and compassion. She was all "class" and "style" in whatever she did. Her welcoming demeanor, free spirit and sense of adventure made her someone everyone wanted to be around.
Leanne has changed the lives of others through the gift of organ donation. By donating her organs, she died as she lived - helping others.
Leanne had a strong sense of community and worked as a volunteer for many years with the Rotary Club, the Gold Cup and Saucer Parade (Organizing Committee) and was a past board member, vice president and president of the P.E.I. Humane Society.
Leanne is survived by sisters, Darlene (Philip Macaulay), Bedford, and Melodie (Paul Tomcik), Halifax; nephews, Logan and Bryson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father in August 2008.
Cremation will take place and as per Leanne's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of Leanne's life will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Rd, Moncton, N.B., on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 1 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Halifax QEII Infirmary 5.2 ICU for their excellent care, kindness and compassion.
Donations can be made to the P.E.I. Humane Society online at www.PEIHumaneSociety.com or by mail to PO Box 20022, 309 Sherwood Rd, Charlottetown, PE, C1A 9E3 or to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services have been entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902-455-0531). Online condolences can be sent to www.fairhavenmemorial.ca.
