Ruth Olive Porter

Porter, Ruth Olive (Watts) – 85 of Bible Hill passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born February 6, 1929 in Cherry Hill, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Neil and Olive (Munn) Munn. Ruth was an employee of Stanfield’s Ltd. for several years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking and was especially known for her delicious dark fruit cakes and plum puddings. Ruth had great patience with children and enjoyed her time spent with them. She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce; daughters, Pam (Alex) Zahara, Truro, Sylvia Cail (Dave), Bible Hill; stepson, Larry (Dawn), London, Ont.; grandchildren, Rosemarie, John, Crystal, Shelley, Amanda, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Pamela, Neil, Victoria, Stephanie, Kelsey, Tyler, Zackery, Donald, Paula, Myles, Mason, Molly, Dillan, Raquel, Evan, Olivia; brothers, John Daniel, New Brunswick, Samuel Bruce, Belmont; sisters-in-law, Isabel, Laura, both of St. John, NB; brother-in-law, Bill Porter, Ont. She was predeceased by her first husband, Russell James Watts; granddaughter, Kelly Stewart; brothers, Donald, Keith, Neil, Delburn, John Everett, James; sister, Sarah “Dolly”. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28 from 6-8 pm; funeral service on Wednesday, October 29 at 1:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Dr. Dave Sutherland officiating. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Parkinson Society.
