It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Joan Arlene MacMillan, 73, of New Waterford on October 31, 2014, at home.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Bernadette 'Bernie' (Boudreau) MacMillan.
Joan was employed with the federal government in Manpower and Immigration for 32 years until her retirement. She loved playing darts with her buddies from the KOC and the legion and was an avid music fan. Above all, her family were her pride and joy.
Surviving are brother Ernie (Doreen) MacMillan, New Waterford; sisters, Mary MacMillan, Grace White, both of New Waterford, Peggy (Pierce) Sampson, Sydney; nieces and nephews, Kevin MacMillan, Jeannette (Kenny) Pearson, Darren MacMillan, David (Barbara-Ann) MacMillan, Michelle Sampson, Anne (Curtis) Roach, Elaine (Todd) McFadyen, Shauna (Darrin) Akerman, Carol (John) Serroul; several grandnieces and grandnephews; aunt, ay MacKinnon.
Joan was predeceased by both parents.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
