Anita Leger

LEGER, ANITA - 1921 - 2014 - Anita Leger, 93, passed away quietly at the Villa Providence in Shediac early Monday morning on November 3, 2014. Anita was born in Cocagne Cape on January 17, 1921. She was the daughter of Wilfrid and Marie (Hebert) Leger. Although her health had suffered numerous setbacks over the past months, she was joyful and satisfied with life until the very last. Her greatest joy came in August, 2014, when many of her nieces, nephews and other close family members visited and held numerous celebrations. Anita was most appreciative for every gesture and service given to her. She always expressed appreciation for all the staff and medical personnel provided at the Dumont Hospital and at the Villa Providence. She was most appreciative of her friends and neighbors at the Residence Joseph LeBlanc in Shediac. She was particularly happy with all the support given to her by Adrien and Stella Gallant. Her two godsons, Gerald Malekos and Adrien Gallant were like her own children to her. Anita devoted the latter part of her life to caring for her parents Wilfrid and Marie. Anita lived many years with her sister Jenny in Montreal and became like a second mother to all the Malekos children. Her working life in the restaurant industry brought her to Montreal, Las Vegas and other exciting places. She often spoke of meeting various stars. She led the life that she chose. Anita was the last of the children of Wilfrid and Marie to pass away. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Alonzo; five sisters: Evelyne Cormier, Lea Poirier, Maria Gallant, Germaine Leger and Geneva Malekos. The many nieces and nephews and their children all loved her very much and will miss her.
By request, there will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be celebrated at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 12 p.m. Interment will be in parish cemetery. In memory of Anita, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Tree of Hope) (http://arbredelespoir.chudumont.ca/) or to the donor`s choice would be appreciated. Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral Centre, Shediac (532-3297).
