ABERCROMBIE – James Scott Crawford, 84 of Abercrombie, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 16, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Karl and Elizabeth (Fraser) Crawford.
He was a member of the local snowmobile club and ATV club. Jim was known for his small engine mechanical skills having worked self-employed for many years at his shop in Abercrombie. He also worked for Ross and Williams and later with Adventure Motors.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman, having enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four-wheeling.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Barbara Evelyn (Lindsay), sons Karl (Faye), Scotsburn; William (Stephanie), Scotsburn; daughters Valerie Smith (Jeff Gunn), Scotsburn; Marsha (Dan) Chisholm, Scotsburn; grandchildren: Kevin, Kris, Derek, Betty, Jason, Ella-Jean, Meghan, Brett, Noah, Ella, Kelsey and Taylor; nine great-grandchildren; a sister Willa (Murray) MacKenzie.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a grandson Daniel Chisholm and a great-granddaughter Rebecca Chisholm.
Cremation to take place.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook presiding. A reception will follow at the Abercrombie Community Center. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in the Abercrombie Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
The family wish to express their appreciation to Dr. Burrill, Dr. Farrell, Rhonda Langille and the nursing staff at Palliative Care for their excellent care.
