It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Margaret Bessie Fudge, 83, on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born at Mouse Island, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Julie (Keeping) Lomond.
Bessie was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch #19 Royal Canadian Legion and she attended the Seniors Day Care program at the Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines.
Bessie is survived by her two daughters, Minnie (Robert) Noseworthy, Baddeck, Shirley (Charlie) Brown, Sydney; her six sons, Edward (Francine), Baddeck, Clarence (Marie), Port Hawkesbury, Gerald (Brenda), Lower Sackville, Morgan and George (Margie), both of Sydney, Rodney (Ali), Sudbury, Ont.; her 13 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Morgan Lomond, Grand Bay, N.L., and Alex (Sheila) Lomond, Dartmouth; her sister Irene (Garland) Mussel, Grand Bay, N.L., and two nephews she was very close to, Lloyd Fudge, North Sydney and Roy Fudge, Yarmouth and many other nieces and nephews.
Bessie was predeceased by her husband William Fudge in 2001, a son John in infancy, brothers, George and Tom Lomond, sisters, Martha Hickey, Lene Lomond and Annie Pyke and by a grandson Russell Buffett.
Visitation for Bessie will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Wednesday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney with Rev. Glen Kent officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
