BURTT, EVELYN MARIE - With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Evelyn Marie (Manderville) Burtt of Grafton, NB on Saturday, November 29th, 2014, at the age of 71. Surrounded by her family, Evelyn passed away at home following a battle with cancer. Evelyn was born in Derby, NB on May 17th, 1943, the daughter of the late Huntzie and Mary (McKay) Manderville. She is survived by her husband, G. Herbert Burtt, one son Peter Burtt (Tracy) of Moncton, NB, daughters Marjorie Hewson of Grafton, NB, and Karen Hunter (Mark) of Windsor, NS. She is also survived by one sister, Norma Richardson (Donald) of Woodstock, NB, one brother, Elbert Manderville (Patricia) of Lethbridge, AB, Seven Grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Burtt; Marenn, Mikah and Mia Hewson; Rachel and Caleb Hunter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents and four brothers, Wilson Manderville (Irene), Miller Manderville, Maclyn Manderville (Beverley), and Junior Manderville.
Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB, with visiting on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd at 2:00 pm from Scott Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Leonard Cousins officiating. Interment in the Upper Jacksonville Cemetery will occur at a later date.
Following her RN training at the Carleton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Evelyn worked as a nurse in various parts of Canada before starting a family. Evelyn remained dedicated to the nursing profession throughout her life, finishing her nursing career at Carleton Manor. Evelyn prioritized her family and her faith and was known by many for her hospitality and excellent culinary skills. She delighted in her family, especially her grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. McLaughlin and nurse Robyn for their extraordinary care.
