Jack Helman
Jackie Lee Helman was born November 11th, 1937, first child of Peter and Mollie Helman of Cabri, SK., followed by sisters Shirley and Rosemarie and brother Jim. Jack went to grade school at Lemsford, SK. and took his high school at St. Thomas College in North Battleford. Jack fell in love with the beautiful red headed girl up the road and Jack and Agnes Schafer were married October 11, 1958.
It was his first job as apprentice to George Hudec, Secretary of the R.M. of Clinworth in Lemsford, SK. that would inspire Jack to formalize his training. Hugh Hunter of the RM of Victory would offer the job to Jack and in 1961 with his wife Aggie and his two daughters Daphne and Denice they would establish a home in Beechy. The family would grow to include a son, Lee and another daughter Lisa. In 1975 Jack and his family returned to Sceptre to co-own and manage the Golden West Hotel with his sister Shirley and brother-in-law Eugene. Returning to Beechy in 1981, Jack would establish his own business under the name of J.L. Accounting. His 33 years in this role would be testament to his love of working with numbers and providing a professional and caring service to his community.
Jack was an active member and supporter of his church, town events and sports teams. Jack demonstrated through his actions his values, his faith and his love of others. He was a friend, confidant and role model to those who had the honor of knowing him. Jack’s love of his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was deep and true. He counted each one a blessing.
In 2013 Jack was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He faced the ordeal with dignity, grace and courage. His faith, family and strength provided him with the will to pursue treatment. He fought the good fight even to the end. Surrounded by the love of his family, Jack left us for his new home in heaven at 12:11 November 22nd, 2014. Jack we will miss you, cherish our memories of you, and look forward to the day we will see you again.
