It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Tutty, wife, mother, sister and aunt at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Neila (MacLean) Johnston and the late Harold Johnston, both of Glace Bay.
Judy was a graduate of Acadia University with degrees in Arts and Education. She spent her entire career as a Grade 4 teacher in the Glace Bay school system.
In her younger years Judy enjoyed skating as well as cross country and downhill skiing. Many hours were spent gardening and preparing new dishes in her kitchen. Above all else, Judy enjoyed her frequent trips, especially those that took her to her much beloved destination, Disney World, with her travelling companion Brianna Janel.
Judy was a member of Newsom United Church in Passchendaele.
Besides her mother Neila, Judy is survived by her husband, Jack Tutty, and daughter Brianna, brothers, Bill (Daria), Read (Linda) and Kenny, all of Glace Bay. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Brenda (James Wheelhouse), nephews, Andrew (Courtney) Johnston, Jonathon (Stacey) Wheelhouse, nieces, Tanya (Dave MacDonald) and Michelle Wheelhouse. Judy is also survived by her Aunt Audrey Luff and special cousin, Dianne MacDonald.
Besides her father, Judy was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Alice (Adshade) Tutty and nephew, Kyle Johnston.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 3-5 and from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral Service will be held Friday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. in Newsom United Church, Dominion Street officiated by Rev. Donald MacDonald. A reception will be held following the service in Newsom Church Hall. A private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations in Judy’s memory may be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
