Francis passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Emile and Jane (Mercer) Lawless.
Francis worked for over 50 years in the coal mines both as a miner and electrician. He truly loved his job. A quiet man by nature, Francis was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling with his wife. Francis was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his three daughters, Barbara MacDonald, Lorraine Cullen (William), Marjorie Cullen (Donald), six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Francis was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Hussey) Lawless in 2006 and six siblings.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A committal service will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Maple Avenue, Glace Bay with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating.
