DEAN, RALPH KENNETH ROBERT - 1939-2014 - Mr. "Bud" Ralph Kenneth Robert Dean of North Head Grand Manan Island passed away unexpectedly at the Grand Manan Hospital on Thursday December 4, 2014. He was born the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Beal) of Grand Manan. Bud will be remembered as gentle man with a warm spirit. He and his wife Alice raised their family with love and care on Grand Manan where they made their home in North Head. He was a truck driver for most of his working life, and operated a dump truck and heavy equipment, and for a period of time he also managed a fish plant. In later years he and Alice could be found at many local social functions, and in the summer he would be seen offering drives in his Model A Ford on warm sunny days. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Alice (Brown) Dean. Two daughters Melissa Robinson (Tim Palmer), Saint John, Fredonna Dean (Joseph Greenlaw), of Grand Manan, and one son Kenneth Dean (Brad Lockerbie), Halifax, NS. Five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. One sister Mrs. Lois Benson of Oak Bay. Several special neices, nephews, and many friends he made through life.
Visiting will take place on Sunday at the North Head Baptist Church from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will take place at the church on Monday December 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. David Phillips officiating. The interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, or the Grand Manan Animal Rescue League.
