The wife of Dr. Ihsan Ali Kapkin (1998), Aynihayat was born in Istanbul, Turkey and immigrated to Saint John, Canada via the United States to make Canada her home and raise her family. The family stayed in the United States until 1963 when employment circumstances brought them to Saint John, New Brunswick which has been home ever since. She had a creative spirit too. She enjoyed painting, was a long time member of the Saint John Art Club and was an accomplished amateur artist. She took art lessons at the New Brunswick museum and attended workshops at Sunbury Shores in Saint Andrews. Her creativity was not only expressed in painting but also in needlework, sewing, embroideries, knitting and crochet. She had a nurturing spirt as well with a gift for gardening and enjoyed growing a riot of flowers and many types of vegetables, in addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to being a consummate homemaker. She was a voracious reader and loved reading a good mystery novel. She loved to travel, enjoying the opportunity to travel with her husband to many locales worldwide. She will be remembered for her love of family, her love of gardening, her love of art and painting, her wonderful cooking, and warm and welcoming manner to all who came to her door.
