Velma Jardine

JARDINE, VELMA MARGUARITE - It was with broken hearts that we announce the Monday, December 8th 2014 passing of Velma Marguarite Jardine which occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Velma was born in Saint John on November 16th, 1952 to Shirley (Hayes) and the late Thomas Hayward Jardine. Throughout her working career Velma worked for the Baptist Convention; yet, most recently, Velma worked at Zellers on the city’s east side for 20+ years. Velma also had a great interest in the NB Genealogy Society. She was a very caring, trustworthy and loyal person to anyone who had the chance to know her. Velma was a very straight forward person. All knew where they stood with her! She loved her family and close, personal, friends and held them dear to her heart. Velma was a devout Christian. Velma is survived by her mother Shirley (Hayes) Jardine of Saint John, NB and sister Ann Grass (Hal Williams) of Rothesay, NB. She is also survived by her two cats AJ and Muffin who were, indeed, a special part of her life. She was predeceased by her father Thomas and brother William. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Jeffrey Williamson of the Saint John Regional Hospital and the staff and volunteers of the 3BN Palliative Care Unit for all of their care and support . As well, special thanks to Linda Collins, home-care worker.
Arrangements are in care of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Velma will be resting at Fundy Funeral home on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place Friday, December 12, from the chapel at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Memorial Donations, in memory of Velma, may be placed with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, SJRH Dialysis Unit, and / or the Palliative Care Unit.
