Phyllis Callen (nee Rees)

1929 - 2014. Passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family at the L.A. Miller Centre on December 9th, 2014, Phyllis Callan, aged 85 years. She is predeceased by her husband Clifford, her parents Alfred and Mildred Rees, sisters Irene Chaulk and Rita Dana. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are her daughter Pam Cochrane (Bob), grandchildren Robert (Jodie), Adam (Amanda), Jennifer (Ryan), and Matthew; three great-grandchildren Zachary, Cadence and Olivia; two sisters Evelyn Williams (Gerald), Joan Oakley; brothers Charles Rees (Gloria), Eric Rees (Phyllis), and many special relatives and friends. Special thanks to Ita Power who visited her every day, and to Bruce and Cathy Waye whose loyal friendship kept her laughing to the very end. And of course, to Alvina Power whose daily support, friendship, laughter and prayers from a distance (Fort McMurray) comforted Phyllis and Pam through the most difficult times. She helped us laugh through the pain. The family is grateful to all of those who helped with her care in any way and especially her sister Joan, and Bob's sister Maureen Anstey, as well as Dr Patrick O'Shea; home care workers Lilly, Tracy, Jean and Lisa; and to the wonderful team of care givers at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre who showed such gentle compassion - thank you so much. Visitation will be held at the Bethel United Church in Normans Cove on Thursday, December 11, 2014, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 1:00pm. Flowers are graciously accepted. Family and friends are invited to a short reception in the basement hall of the Bethel Church following the funeral.
