It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Brenda Sawlor. She passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 8, 2014, after a brief illness.
Born in Sydney, Brenda was the beloved daughter of Rita (Gaudet) Sawlor and the late Robert 'Bob' Sawlor. She was a lifelong member of St. Theresa’s parish, Sydney.
Brenda was an exceptional housekeeper and had a great love for baking. She always had something sweet on hand for anyone who stopped by for tea. Brenda was a great support to our mother these last number of years, making meals and doing the housework. A clean house was one of her proud accomplishments. Brenda enjoyed the simple things in life, like sitting on the back deck or the front verandah on warm days. She had a quick wit and would often make us laugh. Brenda was a unique person who lived life on her own terms. She loved her family, enjoyed family gatherings and had a warm place in her heart for children, especially her nieces and nephews.
Brenda is survived by her four brothers, Walter (Elaine), Rick (Paula), Greg (Sharon) and Brad (Rhona) and two sisters, Karen (Dave Joseph) and Donna (Craig Buckland). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.
Brenda was predeceased by her father, Robert Sawlor; godmother, Marianne Gaudet and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, Dec. 12 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa’s Church on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m., with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Every Woman’s Center in Sydney.
