FLOWERS, GUY ALBERT "BUDDY" -June 27, 1948 - November 21, 2014 - Born in Saint John, New Brunswick... passed away at home in Ottawa on Friday, November 21st. Predeceased by his parents Guy and Christie (Reid) Flowers, sister Ada, brother's George and Gerald; and his beloved dog Cashy who was by his side for 11 years. Survived by his oldest son and best friend Theodore "Ted" Flowers (Reina) and Ted's mom all of Ottawa, twin daughters Samantha (Dan), Sarah and youngest son Joshua, their mother Maureen and their granddaughter Jamie, respectively from Halifax and Toronto, sisters Elsie, Mary Ann, and brothers Bob, Roy, Roddy, Joe and many niece's and nephews. In the late 70's /early 1980's Bud owned a successful snowmobile shop: Mispec Polaris, Buddy was a very competitive drag racer with his Dodge Challenger and his Mercury Sno-Twister, he sponsored many sleds and raced most weekends during winter months. He was an excellent mechanic however attributed some wins to this saying: "if you aint cheating you ain't competin". Bud took a couple years away from printing to be nearer his parents, at that time he worked in the woods. He loved to hunt and fish, having fantastic luck with a three pronged hook when fishing salmon. Buddy was a man of many accomplishments, having worked 31 years as a printing press operator, sheetfed foreman of plants in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the trade brought him to Ottawa in hopes of a better education for his young daughters. Prior to his retirement he ran the first waterless press in Ottawa. In his later years he was a property manager and entrepreneur, always looking for a deal, buying & selling was a passion throughout his lifetime. His outspoken and unique sense of humor will be sadly be missed by those who "got him" a witty man who lived a full life. Buddy was most proud of his children and their success' and although three of his children lived in different cities they were in his heart at all times.
A service will be held at a later date in Fredericton. No flowers please as there will be enough in attendance, if you wish donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
