It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved brother, father, cousin and friend Leslie 'Les' Adriannus Colborne, on Dec. 20, 2014, in the palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on Aug. 11, 1949, he was the son of the late George and Corneila (Hoogervorst) Colborne.
Les was a hair dresser for most of his career, working in Halifax, Sydney Mines and Sydney. However, he ended his working days in his favourite place, the golf course, as a golf Marshall at Seaview Golf & Country Club in North Sydney. Les was an avid golfer and lifetime member at Seaview.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Heise Colborne, Holland; daughter, Allison Hoban (Ernie), Mira; grandchildren, Brandon and Taylor; niece, Kim Morrison; nephew, Shawn Morrison; cousin and dear friends Carl and Betty Roberts, North Sydney; and his very dear friends Susie Musgrave (Roger Allain) and David MacGillivary, Westmount.
Les was predeceased by both of his parents and his sister, Pearl Morrison.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at 10 a.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating.
