Victor Ronald Carrigan of Sydney passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Westville, Nova Scotia, Victor Carrigan lived a full life and touched many lives with his kind heart and generous spirit.
Vic was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force who was proud of his 29 years of service to his country. Following his retirement in 1970, he worked in the finance department of the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax.
Vic was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mora Belle Carrigan (nee MacLean) and by his daughter-in-law, Margaret Rose Carrigan.
Vic leaves with warm and loving memories his son, Dr. Ronald Carrigan of Paradise, Newfoundland, and grandsons, Russ (Sherry) with great-grandchildren, Michaela and Jack; Colin (Andrea) with great-grandchildren, Bridget and Eamon; and Scott. Vic will also be dearly missed by Paul Carrigan and Tracey Boutilier of Port Caledonia, caregiver Doreen Bono, special sister Florence and the MacLean clan of Marion Bridge.
The Carrigans wish to thank the management and caring staff of Taigh Na Mara in Glace Bay for the kind and professional care Vic received there during his last years. He will always be remembered for his smile and gentle nature.
A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. with Rev. James Oliver officiating.
