With sadness, we announce the passing of Murray Burt, much loved husband, father and grandfather.
Murray was born May 27, 1932, in Sydney, N.S. to Frank and Mildred (Purves) Burt and passed away Dec. 18, 2014 with family by his side.
He will be missed by his loving wife Ivy (Hartung) and children Katherine (Shayne Kelly), Kevin (Katharine) and David (Angela). Murray is also survived by siblings Gloria Ferguson, Owen (Connie) Burt and Pauline (Jack) Benjamin.
Predeceased by his parents, brother Cecil and sister Joan.
Murray spent the majority of his working years with the Kitchener Public Library initially hired to drive the city's new bookmobile in 1958. He was also one of the founding members of the K-W Oldtimers Hockey League giving him, and so many others, a forum to enjoy the game he loved so much.
The family thanks the CCAC caseworkers and the staff of the Kitchener Alzheimer Society for their guidance and support as we navigated this path, as well as the staff in the neurobehavioural unit of Freeport Hospital for their compassion and care of Murray over the past several months.
A celebration of Murray's life will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kitchener Alzheimer Society or Freeport Hospital - Neurobehavioural Unit can be arranged through the funeral home (519-749-8467).
