Gerard Donovan

DONOVAN, GERALD C. - 1934-2014 - Gerald Donovan of Riverview passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late John and Kathleen Donovan (Mullin). Gerald retired from NBTel with over 34 years of service. He didn’t let retirement slow him down. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, bowling, and curling. A great deal of his retirement was spent following his three grandsons around in whatever sports they were playing. They were his pride and joy and could do no wrong in “poppy’s” eyes. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Marie (Burns); daughters, Cheryl (Craig) Donovan-White of Conception Bay South, NL, Joanne (Jeff) Freeze of Saint John; son, Kevin (Carol) of Riverview; sisters, Anne MacDonald of Miramichi, Margaret Jewis of Saint John, Carmel (Arnold) Manderville of Millerton; brother, Rev. Vince Donovan of Renous; grandchildren, Ryan, Brennen and Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by a brother, Aloysius. The family would like to thank Dr. Forbes, Dr. Cameron and the staff of Moncton Hospital for their dedication and compassion provided during the time Gerald was in their care.
Visitation will take place at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview (869-2007) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A service celebrating his life will take place on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (Fatima Dr.) at 10am with Father Charles Broderick officiating. Donations made to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Building Fund, the Parkinson’s Society, or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
