Albert Levesque

LÉVESQUE, ALBERT - Albert Lévesque, 81, of Moncton, passed away following a brief and courageous battle with illness on Monday December 22, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Campbellton on June 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Jean 'John' and Laura (Parent) Lévesque.
He will be greatly missed by his wife for 44 years, Paulette née Trudeau; two sons: Pierre-Emmanuel and Jean-Sébastien (Danièle Robichaud); two granddaughters whom he dearly cherished: Annabelle and Gabrielle, all of Montréal; one brother, Edgar (Cécile Veilleux) of Val d'Amour; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Thérèse Lévesque of St-Quentin, Rita Lévesque of Val d'Amour, Dorothée Trudeau (Jean-Pierre Villeneuve) of Montréal, Paul Trudeau and Suzanne Cantin, both of St-Lambert; as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his six brothers and four sisters: Bertrand, Irène, Jean 'John', Thomas, Evelyne, Henry, Lionel, André, Yvonne, and Isabelle. Albert was a librarian and worked at the Séminaire de St-Hyacinthe from 1962 to 1964, founder librarian of the library at the National University of Rwanda in Africa where he worked from 1964 to 1973. Upon his return from Africa, he was the head director of the Bibliothèque Champlain at the Université de Moncton in 1973 until his retirement in 1996. He loved gatherings and being surrounded by his family. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors Peter Stoddard, Martina Babin, and Sheldon Rubin who took great care of him as well as to the staff of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital who provided him with great humanitarian care during his last stay at the hospital.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton on Tuesday December 30, 2014 at 11 am. Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
The family would appreciate contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
