It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved Uncle, Sylvester “Levi” (Abey) Prosper. Levi passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow on December 23, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
Born 89 years ago in Pictou Landing he was the son of late Mrs. Mary Catherine (Basque) Prosper and Michael Prosper of Whycocomagh. He was predeceased by his three brothers: John Prosper, Joseph Prosper and Ernest Prosper; three sisters: Mary Prosper, Alfreda Prosper and Susan Prosper; two half-brothers: Jacob Francis, James Francis, and half-sister Ella Francis. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and was like a father to his niece, Beverley Knockwood (Denny). Levi was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and an active member of the community of Pictou Landing. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
His remains are resting at his late residence 6581 Pictou Landing Rd., Pictou Landing First Nation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation, with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Under the direction of H.W. Angus Funeral of New Glasgow, NS.
