It is with heavy hearts that the family of C. Wayne Myatt age 59 of Amherst announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at home.
Born in Springhill, NS he was a son of Reginald Myatt of Bass River and the late Minnie (Laurie) Coleman.
Wayne was very involved in local sports including Amherst Slow Pitch for 20 years, he coached hockey and baseball and had the privilege of coaching his two sons and step son and was a longtime supporter of the Amherst Ramblers.
Wayne was so proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and everything they were involved in.
He worked as purchasing manager for Apex Industries for the past 14 years and was an adherent of First Baptist Church, Amherst.
Wayne was also involved in the Children’s Wish Foundation, Relay for Life and the Cumberland Car Club.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Ellen (Porter) Myatt, son Constable Jason (Jocelyn) of Grand Bay-Westfield, daughter Melissa (Justin) Siddall of Amherst, sister Arlene (Steve) Sharpe of Ottawa, ON, brother Donald Myatt of Dartmouth, step sister Leallen (Greg) Lewis of Halifax, step brother Lian Walton (Doreen Martell) of Bass River, step children Amanda Niles (Nathan Doucette) of Dartmouth and Bradley Niles (Kelsey) of Spruce Grove, Alberta, grandchildren Alexander, Jenna, Kylie, Jordyn, Riley and Jack and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother, he is predeceased by son Jeffrey Wayne and step mother Joyce Myatt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 7 – 9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS. (902-667-9906)
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
Interment will take place in the spring in the Amherst Cemetery.
Family flowers only.
Memorial donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
