It is with deep sadness that we must announce the sudden passing of Gladys Carol Shay, age 73, of Amherst, formerly of Sussex, NB. Gladys passed away surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Gladys (Smith) Weatherbee.
She was raised by Viola and Judd Dobson. Gladys loved her cats dearly. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, spending time at the beach, and having tea with her family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her children Michael (Patsy), Sussex, NB, Debbie (Paul) Rideout, Pettiwawa, ON, Stephen (Ellie), Truro, NS, Wendi (Chris) Armstrong, Sussex, NB, and John, Sussex, NB; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Cecil (Irene) Weatherbee, Amherst, NS; sisters Judy (Ken) Milner, Amherst, Beverly Collins, Amherst.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald; sisters Marilyn Gould, Kay Hunter, Elizabeth Jacklin, brothers, Jackie and Carl Weatherbee; special aunt Effie Dobson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). In keeping with Gladys' wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time.
