ATWOOD, Lonney Ray – age 59, of Yarmouth.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother. Lonney passed away at the Yarmouth Hospital on December 24th, 2014. Born in Yarmouth, on March 29th, 1955, he was the son of the late Russell and Evelyn (Gaudet) Atwood. He attended Carleton and Hebron School. He was devoted to helping his Mom his whole life until her passing in December of 2012. He is survived by his sister Brenda Atwood of Yarmouth, brother Lendal (Linda) Atwood, Pleasant Valley; sister Sheila (Joe Aucoin) Atwood, Lower Ohio; brother Blaine (Sandy) Atwood, South Ohio; Elaine (Jim) Samways, Brooklin, Ontario; Twila Hartwell, Halifax, Nova Scotia; Timothy Atwood, Pembrooke; Brian (Brigitte) Atwood, Vanderhoof, B.C.; sister Karen (Chris) Jones, Witby, Ontario; and Larry (Stephanie) Atwood, Falmouth, N.S . We know he is safe in the arms of Mom and Dad and he is there helping them watch over us. Many thanks to the Yarmouth Paramedics, the ER staff and 3 South staff at Yarmouth Hospital, our wonderful nurses of the VON as well as Dr. Riley, Dr. Marais and nurse Paula Watkins for their kind efforts and special attention they gave Lonney. You are true professionals with dedication not only to your patients physical well being but also show a special attention to their spiritual health. Lonney would also want to thank the staff at the First Nations for making his outings that much more special. You went above and beyond. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Tuesday, December 30th, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Wednesday December 31st, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Rev. Mike Cannell officiated. Interment followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Reception followed at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Donations can be made to the Yarmouth Salvation Army. Family flowers only by request.
