John Magee

MAGEE, JOHN JAMES - The unexpected passing of John Magee, of Lower Cornwall, NS, occurred on December 17, 2014 in Halifax, NS due to complications following surgery. John was born on December 26, 1960 in Saint John, NB. He was the son of Douglas Magee of Grand Bay/Westfield, NB and the late Audrey Magee (nee Washburn). Besides his father John is survived by his wife of 27 years, Christine Magee (nee Spidle), his son Shane of Yellowknife, NWT, brothers Richard (Allyson) of Hanwell, NB, David (Lisa) of Smith Falls, ON, William (Heather) of Grand Bay/Westfield and Robert (Cindi) of Cole Harbour, NS. He is survived by one sister, Caroline (James) of Grand Bay/Westfield. John was predeceased by his mother, and an infant sister Wendy Lynn. John spent his early childhood years growing up in Grand Bay, NB. His family moved to Wirral NB when John was a teenager and he graduated from Oromocto High in 1979. Following graduation John moved to Lower Cornwall, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia where he resided for the remainder of his life. Shortly after moving to Nova Scotia John found employment with National Sea Highliner Foods where he enjoyed a 34 year career, advancing to become Manager of Production, Procurement and Quality Control. John’s employment took him around the world and he travelled extensively. John loved Asia and lived and worked in China for at least four months every year. It was at the National Sea production facility in Lunenburg, NS where John met his wife, Christine. They were married on October 10, 1987. Their son, Shane, was born on May 29, 1990. John was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and sports fisherman. He enjoyed spending time on his woodlots and at his favorite lake. John had a wide circle of friends and was known to always be willing to help anyone when they were in need.
In keeping with John’s wishes there was no public funeral or memorial service. A gathering of his friends and family took place on December 27, 2014 at the Middle Cornwall fire hall.
