NEW GLASGOW – My brother, Bill Gillespie, died Monday, December 29, after a difficult battle with cancer.
Bill was the middle child of five and the only boy. In his early years, Billy struggled to find a balance between his tough guy exterior and his inner softie. He found that balance with Paula, his wife of 26 years. Bill was Paula’s handsome knight in shining armour and the man who cried at sad movies with her. Bill was blessed with two daughters, Emma (Jason) and Taylor, with whom he could have tea parties and later scare away undeserving suitors.
Bill had a long career at Michelin where he earned the respect of co-workers as a hard worker and decent card player. Bill loved his Canadiens and playing golf.
“B” will be greatly missed by his Girls and sisters, Kim (Dave), Joey, Sherry (Jim), Laurie, his nieces and nephews and by all who were fortunate enough to know the real man he was.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, January 2, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. We invite you to come and toast Bill’s life.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
