MALLET, ALCIDE - It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Alcide Mallet of Geary, NB, which occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on December 30, 2014. Born in St. Paul August, NB, on August 20, 1920, he was the son of the late Adolphe and Odille Mallet and husband to the late Louisa Mallet. Alcide is survived by his sons, Philippe (Lise) De La Vivetiere of Pokemouche, NB, Benoit (Claudette) Mallet of Maryville, QC, Ovilda (Brenda) Mallet of Stanley, NB, Victor (Diane) Mallet of Saint-Bruno, QC, Jervais (Cathy) Mallet of Geary, NB; daughters, Flora (William) Rogers of Rusagonis, NB and Azylda (Wayne) Buchanan of Oromocto, NB. He is also survived by many many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents and wife, Alcide is predeceased by his son, Adolphe Mallet and daughters Jacqueline and Jocelyne Mallet. Alcide Mallet (Scooter Man) was a hardworking man who was loved and respected by many. Best known as “Sid” or “Jack”, Alcide lived in Geary for many years. He was a painter for CFB Gagetown after retiring from the military where he was with the North Shore Regiment (NB) during WWII. Alcide worked in the woods most of his adult life, always a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. Alcide was a member of the Legion, an avid pool player, and a card player who loved to dance. He had a hearty laugh, bad temper, but most importantly a big heart. In the summer you would find him at the Speedway or being a Pony Pull Judge. He was a race car driver at Brookside, and helped build the Mactaquac Dam. Alcide lived life to the fullest and will be missed by many.
A memorial gathering will take place Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 3 Robert St, Oromocto, NB, from 2 to 5pm, where stories, best wishes and great memories, will be shared. The family request’s no flowers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the Oromocto Funeral Home. www.oromoctofh.com
